Dear, (you),

First of all, hello! How are you doing today? I hope your day is going well. And if not, then I hope your day gets better. We are all in charge of our own lives; each of us given our own emotions, thought processes, and mindsets. Ultimately, it is up to us to make today (and every day) a good one. 

Do me a favor. I promise it won’t take long. I want you to close your eyes, and put your hand over your heart. Do you feel your heartbeat? You are alive, living as every second ticks by. Whether you’re a high school student, working in a cubicle, or sitting on the couch at home. Right now, you are alive.

Live every second with a purpose. I know its easy to get caught up in negative emotions. Trust me, we’ve all been there. And it is perfectly okay to feel negative emotions. But you have to remember, like I said before: it is up to you how you feel, how you handle the situation you’re in, and to make today as great as possible. 

Even if that means that today, you take a Mental Health Day. Even if you spend today on the couch watching Netflix until one in the morning, make sure your action has a purpose. It’s so easy to get caught up in the thrill of an event, or become lazy and not want to do anything. But think about this: what are you doing with your life, right now? Where do you want to be in five years? 

Set aside time for yourself, but always make sure you get back up on the horse. Create goals, but make sure you only focus on one at a time. That’s was my problem, recently. I got so caught up in tryuing to think of everything at once (graduate, job, car, college, money, apartment, boyfriend, family ) that I brought myself, and those around me, down. All I needed to do was breathe, and take things one step at a time. 

Life gets complicated. Life gets tough, and sometimes you wanna give up. But never give up. Remember when you felt your heart? Find what ignites your spark, and makes your heart beat faster. My calling is helping people. When you find what you love, the rest of it becomes easier. 

Find people you can turn to when and if you should get down. If I didn’t have my boyfriend, today, or my close friends, I don’t know where I’d be right now. Be the person you’d want to be there for you. But most importantly, learn to be your own support. Know about that spark, and what makes you happy. Find new, easier, or more interesting ways of doing things that don’t peak your interest. 

If you haven’t heard it today, I’m proud of you, and I love you. You are one of seven billion people on this planet. Each of us has a story, a spark, and a gift to share with the world. Make today a good day, and spend it with the people who bring out the best in you. You can do this, I promise.
